Contracting Reform

Republicans will unveil their new 'Contract' on Thursday in Virginia - The Hill's Blog Briefing Room:

The new contract, modeled after the 1994 "Contract with America"... is intended to highlight what the Republican party would stand for if it were to return to power in Congress. For much of the last two years, Republicans have won points from voters chiefly by opposing the Obama administration's agenda.

Well, though the article indicates that Social Conservatives feel "their views will be well-represented", I would have to hope that they took Jon Cornyn's words to heart when they were putting this plan together. If they didn't it could run the risk of alienating a lot of independents.

I'm certainly not for the continuation of increased government spending, but if fiscal restraint can only be attained through the attempted implementation of a strictly right-wing moral code, they've lost any possibility of having my vote.
