Beck tour opens with a fizzle
Monday, October 4, 2010 at 10:30AM A crowd of about 700 people, comprised mostly of Tea Party supporters, gathered at Six Flags Great Adventure on Saturday to help kick off conservative talk-show host Glenn Beck's "Restoring America'' tour
A day after the One Nation United rally brought left-wing crazy people to Washington in significantly smaller numbers than Beck did at the end of August, it appears that Beck had a let down of his own. The opening event of the "Restoring America" didn't quite fill up the 8,000 seat arena at Six Flags Great Adventure.
I have no idea what this means, could mean that it's a lousy idea to have an event like this at an amusement park (I mean seriously, roller coasters or political rabble-rousing?). Maybe it means that there just aren't many Beck lovers in Jersey (and I don't think Snooki is back from Miami yet). Perhaps, it means that Beck isn't as big of a draw by himself as he is when paired off with Bill O'Reilly or Sarah Palin.
I guess we'll see what happens as the tour continues, but to be honest, I'm not sure why I would pay $50 to see live what I can see essentially for free by watching six hours of Fox News.
