Arkansas Democratic Party Chairman Shot
Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at 1:09PM
A "forty year-old white man" fired several shots at the Arkansas Democratic Party headquarters in Little Rock less than an hour ago. Arkansas Democratic Party Chairman Bill Gwatney was hit "several times" and was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The gunmen was shot by Little Rock police during the ensuing chase, his condition is not being released but there have been some unconfirmed reports that he has been killed.
This story could have some interesting implications given the reported rise in interest in White Supremacist organizations throughout the south over the last year. Mr. Gwatney is white, but given the uneasy history of racial tension in Little Rock, the possibility of this being a racially motivated attack is far from unfounded.
