Student Tasered at Kerry Speech

So, there's a lot of videos making the rounds of some poor guy getting tasered by police at a speech that was being given by John Kerry at the University of Florida. I want to say, most of the videos I have seen don't really give you a very good idea of why the police acted as they did. I want to make it clear that I am not defending the tasering of this man, however, after seeing this video of the incident, I can understand why they were attempting to remove him from the premises. Not only was he rude to the officers (which in itself is not an arrestable offense), it appears that at the beginning (well before the tasering) they were simply trying to move the process along (he wasn't asking questions, he was simply ranting (again, this is allowed, even if it is a bit inconsiderate). Additionally, I'm pretty sure the cops didn't cut his mic, I'm sure it was the person working the sound for the event, unless they simply unplugged it (this is a possibility). Now I'm going to explain why they tased him, he was resisting. The police were trying to escort him off the premises and he was fighting them. The second he began resisting them he committed at least two crimes, resisting arrest (even though it was not apparent whether or not he would have been arrested had he not fought with the officers) and interference with official acts. It is hard to say what would have happened had he simply been walked out and told he was not allowed to reenter. However, this guy (who seems to be just a bit off) decided that he was going to fight with the police. Now this is where it gets bad. The second he starts resisting them, those police officers are put in an awkward situation. Outwardly it appears that they are attempting to suppress his right to speak, which they may have been doing (although what really was the point of the Skull & Bones question?). However, those officers were now confronted with a man (who was definitely angry) who refuses to allow others to speak, is showing no respect for law enforcement and/or the rest of the people in the crowd and has obviously chosen to disregard their requests. To be honest, this guy was being a dumbass. The cops overreacted, the guy decided that he was going to resist and the cops decided that he needed to be tased, which was probably overkill, since a couple of the cops were pretty big. It's not exactly like he was tasered as he was asking his question(s), it was 3-4 minutes later after he had been tussling with police officers that he was tased. By that point he was certainly not acting very peacefully toward those police officers, and he certainly didn't appear willing to calm down. Personally, I think that this is being severely over-hyped. This is not some huge miscarriage of justice, this is about a guy (who was being a jerk) resisting arrest and getting tasered. I think the real lesson here is that there are better ways to make yourself heard, hundreds if not thousands of people do it everyday and don't get tasered or even approached by police. Here's a link to a very high quality (although the sound lags a bit) version of the incident.
